Overview
Working alongside Jackson-Crane Architecture, we designed this kitchen for a private home in West Bridgford, focusing on refined detailing, material consistency and a calm, Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic.
The design balances functionality with subtle, considered features — creating a space that feels both practical and visually resolved.
Joinery & Detailing
The kitchen is defined by its carefully considered joinery details.
The island features oak drawer fronts with a 30mm recessed shadow gap above, creating a clean finger pull while introducing a strong horizontal line across the elevation. This detail gives the island a subtle graphic quality while maintaining simplicity.
Within the painted cabinetry, recessed handles with oak inlays provide a tactile and consistent material connection to the rest of the kitchen. These elements tie the scheme together, allowing the palette to feel cohesive without relying on contrast.
Slim wall units above the sink are proportioned to maintain a sense of openness, keeping the elevation light while still providing practical storage.
Material & Spatial Approach
A restrained palette of painted cabinetry and natural oak creates a calm and balanced interior.
The design focuses on proportion and alignment, ensuring each element feels integrated within the wider space. The result is a kitchen that feels considered and understated, with the detailing providing interest rather than relying on bold gestures.
Delivery
Following a detailed survey and technical design phase, the kitchen was manufactured in our Nottingham workshop and installed on site.
Careful coordination with the wider project team ensured a precise and seamless integration within the completed space.
