Overview

This project involved the design of three bedrooms within a private home, each with its own distinct brief and character.

The challenge was to create individual spaces tailored to each user, while maintaining a cohesive design language across the home. Sloping ceilings added complexity to each room, requiring careful planning to maximise both functionality and spatial clarity.

Daughter’s Bedroom — Playful & Practical

The daughter’s bedroom was designed to balance practicality with a softer, more playful feel.

A recessed nook was transformed into a cosy reading space, while a pull-out bed allows for flexibility when friends stay over. A desk, dressing table and wardrobe were integrated into the layout, with each element carefully positioned to make the most of the available space.

The existing bed was incorporated into the scheme, ensuring continuity while enhancing the overall design.

Guest Bedroom — Calm & Atmospheric

The guest bedroom takes on a more refined, hotel-inspired aesthetic.

A darker, more tonal palette creates a sense of depth and calm, offering a contrast to the other rooms while still feeling connected through material and detailing. The space is designed to feel comfortable, understated and considered.

Son’s Bedroom — Functional & Tailored

The son’s bedroom was designed with functionality at its core.

A bespoke desk provides space for multiple screens, supporting gaming and study, while integrated storage ensures the room remains organised and uncluttered. The layout responds carefully to the constraints of the sloping ceiling, maintaining a balanced and usable space.

Spatial Approach

Across all three rooms, the sloping ceilings informed the design approach.

Bespoke joinery and carefully considered layouts allowed each space to function efficiently, ensuring no area was lost. Despite their differing briefs, the rooms share a consistent level of detailing and material quality, creating a cohesive and well-resolved set of interiors.
