Situated within a beautiful period home in Nottingham's historic Park Estate, this project centred on creating a calm and contemporary bedroom while respecting the property's original architectural character.
High ceilings, decorative cornicing, original floorboards and textured plaster walls give the room a richness that needed little embellishment. Rather than competing with these features, our design takes a restrained approach, introducing bespoke joinery that sits quietly within the space and allows the architecture to remain the focal point.
A wall of full-height wardrobes, crafted in dark-stained oak, provides generous concealed storage behind clean, handleless doors. Inside, integrated lighting and a carefully planned internal layout ensure the wardrobes are as practical as they are refined, creating a seamless balance between everyday functionality and understated design.
To complement the wardrobes, we designed an oversized headboard with integrated floating bedside units, creating a sense of symmetry while reducing visual clutter. Concealed power and carefully considered proportions contribute to a bedroom that feels calm, comfortable and intentionally minimal.
Every element was designed specifically for the room and manufactured in our Nottingham workshop before being installed by our own team. The result is a contemporary interior that feels perfectly at home within one of Nottingham's most characterful period properties.
